Week 2: Sowing over Zion’s 2021 Theme: REAP

Scripture Reading: 1 Corinthians 3:1-9
Key Verse: 1 Corinthians 3:8-9
8 The one who plants and the one who waters have one purpose, and they will each be rewarded according to their own labor. 9 For we are co-workers in God’s service

“Paul has more powerful revelations than Apollos!”
“Apollos teaches clearer than Paul!”
“Peter is the best teacher! I follow Peter!”
“Christ is the only teacher! I follow Christ!”

The church in Corinth was divided and busy fighting among themselves over which leader is wiser. Members considered themselves as followers of the different leaders, forming factions and fan clubs, while cancelling out the voices of the other factions. Paul pointed out that such in-fighting and comparisons are worldly. Church leaders are but servants in God’s kingdom, co-workers in God’s field. We shouldn’t be exalting one man’s work while negating the contributions made by others.

In our day-to-day conversations, have we bad-mouthed or cut down the work of other churches or denominations? In our enthusiasm to invite people to church, have we “competed” against other Christians in our workplaces or schools? In the body of Christ, such behaviour and attitudes are self-defeating and counter-productive. (1 Corinthians 12:26)

Prayer Points
  • Ask God to search your heart and repent of careless words spoken against believers, churches or denominations which have hurt the cause of Christ.
  • Pray for members of Zion to have a kingdom perspective. That we will be generous co-workers and good partners with various ministries and churches to reap in God’s harvest.
  • Pray for God’s blessings on your fellow co-workers in the harvest fields. They might be Christians from other churches in your family, neighbourhoods, schools or workplaces.
  • Pray for your persons of peace from Day 10.
